Everlasting God, you have ordained and constituted in a wonderful order the ministries of angels and mortals: Mercifully grant that, as your holy angels always serve and worship you in heaven, so by your appointment they may help and defend us here on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Theology on Tap will be at Fishtails in Norton at 7 pm on September 27th.
Our annual Fall Mission Day is on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9:30 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at St. John's in Roanoke. The day will include worship, a morning presentation, and convocation elections. All voting and business will be in-person only.
Clergy delegates and elected lay delegates and lay alternates to Diocesan Convention 2023 are expected to attend. Guests are welcome. Registrations are due by Oct. 12.

Evangelism Snapshot
A new Evangelism Snapshot is out now about connecting with your neighbors this fall through service, worship, and outdoor festivities!
Evangelism communications are sent out every two weeks, alternating between the Evangelism Snapshot and Shine On. Evangelism Snapshots offer ideas and resources to spread the Good News and invite everyone to more and Shine On spotlights stories of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.

Formation Leaders Zoom Gathering - Oct. 12
All formation leaders, lay and clergy, are invited to a Zoom gathering on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. We will talk about any follow up from the Formation Day with The Rev. Jenifer Gamber, how your program year started off, and resources and ideas for Halloween/Trunk or Treat, All Saints' Day, Thanksgiving, and Advent. Stay tuned for an email with the meeting link that will be sent out to clergy and formation leaders next week.
Beloved Community, Being the Hands and Feet: Ministry in Action - Oct. 26
The Diocesan Becoming Beloved Community Guiding Team invites you to hear stories about the ministry of becoming Beloved Community in action from several parishes on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 7:00-8:15 p.m. via Zoom.
You will hear about programs, how they started, and how they are going. There will be time for questions, hearing about how the Guiding Team can help resource and support your parish, and upcoming programs and events. An email with the meeting link is forthcoming, so save the date!

Shine On is a new Evangelism initiative that spotlights stories of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. This issue shines the light on the widespread response across the Diocese to provide flood relief for our neighbors in the south. Click on the link below to read more!

"Love God, Love Neighbor: Advocacy in Action” Training
Those interested in gaining advocacy skills and messaging tools on the topic of immigration are invited to a half-day virtual advocacy training on Sept. 21. The training, offered by The Episcopal Church’s Office of Government Relations and Episcopal Migration Ministries, will offer an overview on migration messaging and framing techniques, briefings on current urgent immigration issues and how to advocate for them, and an optional session on how to conduct an in-person or virtual Congressional meeting.

Safeguarding God's Children Training - Nov. 10
A Safeguarding God's Children training will be offered online via Zoom on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Teachers, youth leaders, and others working with children and youth must have this certification renewed every three years in accordance with diocesan policies.

Forma Conference - Jan. 17-19, 2023
Forma is hosting its annual formation conference Jan. 17-19, 2023 in Alexandria, VA. The conference is designed for anyone involved in formation, all ages and stages. It is close by and a great learning experience, way to connect with colleagues, and deepen your spiritual journey. Please talk with Canon Pattie Ames before registering, as she is considering buying a diocesan block so people can pay a discounted registration rate. Housing is on your own.
