Merciful God, whose servant Joseph of Arimathea with reverence and godly fear prepared the body of our Lord and Savior for burial and laid it in his own tomb: Grant to us, your faithful people, grace and courage to love and serve Jesus with sincere devotion all the days of our life; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
-In conjunction with the Abingdon Convocation and the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia, the Alliance is conducting a clothing drive to help with the influx of displaced people from the Kentucky flood. I am asking our parishes to help with this drive by collecting clothing and placing them in their parish halls, and I will pick them up on Thursday and stage them at All Saints.
-Saturday, I am requesting volunteers to meet at All Saints parish hall in the morning to help sort and prepare the clothing for the homeless shelters and collection locations in Kentucky. If you have any questions, please let me know.
We will have Morning and Evening Prayer via FaceBook live at 6 am and 9 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The services will be on the group page for The Appalachian Alliance of Episcopal Parishes. It is an open group, and if I have not sent an invitation to you, please feel free to join.
Safeguarding God's Children training will be offered online via Zoom on Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 10 from 7-9 p.m. Teachers, youth leaders, and others working with children and youth must have this certification renewed every three years in accordance with diocesan policies.

IRS Increases Mileage Rate for Remainder of 2022
The IRS business mileage rate increased as of July 1. For the final six months of 2022, the standard mileage rate for business travel is 62.5 cents per mile, up 4 cents from the rate effective at the start of the year.
