Loading...As we head into the colors of Fall, it is evident the season is changing. The weather is getting cooler, the days are getting shorter, and the leaves are falling from the trees. All are signs of Winter approaching and Fall fading away. This is the rhythm of the changing seasons, and it happens every year without fail. Even though the plants stop growing during winter, and we tend to huddle in our homes for warmth, we know Spring is not far away. And with the coming of Spring, comes new life and hope.
So it is with the changing of seasons. And this rhythm of change also happens in our lives and in the life of the church. There are often seasons of dying, or laying dormant where life seems to be slipping away and everything is about to end. We need to remind ourselves, however, that new life is just a season away.
It is important for us to remain faithful, vigilant, and expectant during the dark days of winter. It is a time for us to plan and make preparations for the coming season of growth. It is a season for making changes and looking to the future.
As we confront the challenges in front of us and revision what our churches and our lives should look like in the future, we must be open to new possibilities. We need to use this time to prune, plant, and prepare for the next exciting season of our lives together.
